Couple on a Verandah

Comments - Charming Koryusai scene of a couple on a verandah. The young man at right looks down with a sorrowful expression, his hands clasped before him. The courtesan at left turns back to look at him, her own hands hidden beneath the sleeves of her coat. She wears a striped kimono and a white obi patterned with diamond shaped motifs. Her hair is pulled back into a bun with a comb and a feathered hairpin. Behind them, a few birds fly across the sky above a large pine tree. An attractive design with delicate line work and a nicely detailed setting. A rare original 18th century Koryusai print.

Artist - Koryusai (1735 - 1790)

Image Size - 8 3/4" x 7 1/2"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Small holes and thinning spots, repaired. Toning, slight soiling, slight paper remnant along upper right edge. Please see photos for details.
