Setting the Charge at the Gate of Jinzhou, 1904

Comments - Fascinating scene from the Russo-Japanese War of a Japanese soldier setting an explosive device in front of the Gate of Jinzhou. The shirtless man bends over to light the fuse, a wisp of smoke rising from the orange flame. An officer behind him watches closely, a pickax in hand as a few shots explode against the gate at upper right. An intriguing, atmospheric scene, nicely detailed with soft bokashi shading.

Artist - Getsuzo (active circa 1904 - 1905)

Image Size - 14" x 18 3/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Two separate panels. A few holes, repaired. Faint toning, a few spots. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
