Series; Twelve Months in the Yoshiwara, 1869

Beauties in Private Quarters - Attractive scene of two beauties in private quarters, the standing woman wearing a blue outer robe patterned with red blossoms and green leaves. Her attendant holds a red kimono bordered with splashing waves, smiling as she looks up at her companion. Two pails with a design of waves and a yoke rest on the floor behind them, the traditional accompaniments of a shiokumi or brine maiden, a woman who collects sea water for processing into salt, and also a popular kabuki dance. An interesting design with lively color.
