Beauty in a Garden

Comments - Attractive Edo era portrait of a beauty standing in a garden. She lifts the front of her robe, a toothpick in her mouth as she looks out of the corners of her eyes. She wears a boldly patterned kimono tied with a black plaid obi that reverses to pale blue with a design of bats in flight. Her hair is pulled back into a smooth bun, adorned with a tortoiseshell comb and hairpins. A narrow stream winds across the landscape, edge with tall autumn grasses and blossoms. A lovely design, nicely detailed.

Artist - Eisen (1790 - 1848)

Image Size - 15 1/8" x 10 3/8"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. A few small wormholes, repaired, blends well. Slight soiling, a few creases at edges. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
