Original Meiji era Japanese Woodblock Print
Angry Warrior and Monks

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of an angry warrior brandishing a sword above a group of monks, noblemen, and beauties. The bushy-haired rogue holds the blade over his head with both hands, scowling with furrowed brows. The monk at right strikes a pose with a folding fan in one hand and his sleeve stretched above his head. The kneeling beauty in the center looks up from an open book with a sly smile, while the seated archer at left stares unhappily at the samurai. Nice expressive figures, with lively color and embossing in the white kimono.
