Alarmed Beauty, 1853

Comments - Attractive kabuki portrait of the beauty Otomi, who looks over her shoulder with a worried frown, her hand thrown out in alarm. She wears a tie-dyed kimono with blue and white stripes lined with a brown floral print over a red under robe, a dotted towel draped around her neck. Her hair is pulled into a bun with a comb slipping loose at the side. A signpost or marker stands at the foot of a hill at right, with a blossoming cherry tree framing a view of distant mountains beyond the water. An interesting design, nicely colored.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14" x 9 5/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. One wormhole, repaired, slight creasing and soiling. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
