Original Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864) Japanese Woodblock Print
Waiting in a Doorway, 1856

Comments - Interesting kabuki portrait of a commoner waiting in a doorway, scowling unhappily, his brows furrowed. He holds up his checked kimono at the waist, a dotted towel draped over his shoulder. A circular inset at upper right shows a samurai frowning angrily as he looks down, a hat in his hand and two bundles tied to a strap over his shoulder for traveling. Nice expressive figures in a detailed setting.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 13 7/8" x 9 3/4"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. A few wormholes and thinning spots, repaired. Slight creasing and soiling, a few small stains. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
