Sagami, Flowers of Yokoyama, Princess Terute and Oguri Hangan, No. 48 - Lovely scene of the Princess Terute being reunited with her fiance Oguri Hangan in a scene from the play "Toryu Oguri Hangan." After being abducted and lost at sea, the princess was rescued and became a maid for a wealthy merchant. Here, her lover Oguri Hangan stumbles across her during her his search for stolen family jewels. She stands on a stepping stone outside the merchant's home, her kimono sleeve held to her mouth to cover her astonishment when she sees her beloved Oguri approaching with a young page. Cherry trees flower in the garden, providing a beautiful spring setting. The inset above shows Nachi Waterfalls, where the princess takes Oguri to be healed after an injury. A handsome print with delicate embossing in the white kimono trim.
