Series; Poems for the Four Seasons

Spring, 1858 - Attractive woodblock print of Prince Genji and a group of beauties in a palace room. The young nobleman stands at right, smiling happily and waving his fan, wearing an elegant coat over his kimono. At left, a beauty pushes an elegant lacquer cart loaded with books and scrolls, while another woman kneels at Genji's side with a stack of books in hand. The verandah opens onto a large old plum tree covered with delicate blossoms against a softly shaded peach sky. A charming spring scene with delicate embossed detail in the white kimono trim and ends of the scrolls, and a burnished pattern in the black obi at right.

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Two separate panels. A few small holes, repaired. Slight creasing and soiling. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
