Original Meiji era Japanese Woodblock Print
Beauties and Dancing Child

Comments - Interesting image of two beauties watching a naked child dancing about. The print is actually an advertisement for a monthly cleansing product, which is shown in the woman's hand at left. The beauty at right leans on a cloth-covered kotatsu or warmer, her eyes closed as if in pain, and a purple sash wrapped around her head to indicate that she is not well. A fascinating example of advertising in Japanese woodblock prints.

Image Size - 13 3/4" x 10"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Faint horizontal center fold. A few creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
