Geisha Returning from a Bathhouse Kakemono, circa 1810 - 1820

Comments - Lovely vertical diptych or kakemono of a geisha returning from a bathhouse, a white towel draped across her arm. She wears an elegant green light kimono patterned with white butterflies and blue flower buds, trimmed in black and tied with a checked brown obi that reverses to a striped fabric. Her hair is pulled back into a smooth bun, and she looks down, concentrating her attention on extending the umbrella in her hand. A fantastic composition, beautifully filling the space and leading the eye across the page. A wonderful Edo era beauty subject, great to collect or display.

Artist - Eizan (1787 - 1867)

Image Size - 28 1/4" x 9 5/8"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Two attached panels. Paper remnant along top edge. A few small holes, tiny loss at left edge, repaired. Faint toning, creasing, slight soiling. Please see photos for details.
