Okabe: Arashi Kichisaburo III as Okabe Rokuyata

Series: The Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido, 1852

Okabe: Arashi Kichisaburo III as Okabe Rokuyata - Handsome image of the actor Arashi Kichisaburo III as Okabe Rokuyata in the play "Ichi-no-Tani Futaba Gunki." The story is based on the death of the young warrior Taira Atsumori during the Battle of Ichi-no-Tani. Okabe Rokuyata is one of Minamoto no Yoshitsune's retainers, and he is shown here in court dress. He wears a boldly patterned black and white outer robe over a tan kimono with a border of golden waves, a burnished black court cap tied under his chin with cord. He looks ahead with a rather stricken expression, with brows furrowed and a slight frown. The landscape above shows rocky cliffs dotted with pine trees. A great composition with the large, expressive figure nicely filling the page.
