Kinkakuji Temple, 1893 - Lovely triptych of visitors arriving at the beautiful Golden Pavilion (Kinakakuji Temple) in Kyoto, the exterior of which is covered in gold leaf. A young beauty stands under a blossoming tree at right, her attendant behind her carrying an umbrella, pausing as she lifts the robe draped over her head. At left, a young nobleman walks with his servant. Nicely detailed with burnishing in the black coat and embossing in the white kimono trim. A beautiful springtime image of this popular historic site, with a blossoming cherry tree framing the scene.
