Meiji Empress and Attendants

Comments - Attractive image of the Meiji Empress and her ladies-in-waiting in a palace interior. The empress sits on a platform at upper right as several women bow in greeting on the carpet below. At lower left, a beauty holds a puppet of a man waving a pole, smiling over her shoulder at her companions. She wears an olive green kimono patterned with white blossoms over a pink under robe, her hair adorned with clusters of metallic silver flowers. The room opens onto a garden at night, with two arches of greenery and red blossoms visible. Vibrantly colored with handsome detail in the elegant clothing and furnishings. Includes embossing in the white kimono trim.
