The Tale of Genji, Chapters 23 and 24 - Handsome uncut print featuring illustrations for two chapters of the beloved novel "The Tale of Genji." At top, a young prince crouches beside a writing set as the woman beside him holds a poem slip. At top in Chapter 23, a beauty spies on him from behind a folding screen at right. For Chapter 22 at bottom, the young man waits outside a doorway as a matron stands on the step, holding a flaming stick. A prince dressed in a leaf print coat hides behind the pine tree at right. Nicely detailed and vibrantly colored. A rare uncut page with two designs, framed by a red border of Genji symbols.

Image Size - 13 7/8" x 9 1/8"

Condition - With excellent color and detail as shown. Small tear at top edge, a few small holes, repaired. Creasing, slight soiling, faint stain. Please see photos for details.
