Comments - Intriguing depiction of Uesugi Kenshin, the famous warlord of Echigo Province, watching a dancer at Kawanakajima. He sits on a tiger skin rug at left, a hand drum on his lap, as other warriors play drum and flute for the performer, who wears a fierce mask and a flowing red wig. Samurai in armor are gathered inside the high stone walls of the inner courtyard, with more warriors on the lower level of the complex at right. A huge mountain looms in the distance, seen rising from the mist. A fascinating subject with expressive figures and wonderful detail.
