Comments - Great kabuki scene of a samurai and a monk arguing on a verandah beneath a flowering cherry tree. The samurai grimaces angrily at left, raising an object wrapped in brocade cloth above his head. He wears a light mauve kimono tucked into blue hakama pants patterned with lobsters over a suit of armor. The monk glares back at him with an enraged expression, his hand spread open in front of his chest. His gray outer monk's robe is pushed down to the waist, worn over a patterned kimono and suit of armor, with a green cloth headdress patterned with swirling thunderclouds. Includes faint embossing in the gray robe. A great design with expressive figures by a rarely seen Osaka artist, in the seldom seen full oban size.
