Comments - Terrific scene of Prince Genji in a parody of the "Hana no en" or "Festival of the Cherry Blossoms" chapter in the "Tale of Genji." Here, the young prince enjoys the company of a group of beauties in a room overlooking a courtyard with blossoming cherry trees. A woman leans against him as she pours him a cup of sake, while he waves a greeting. A sumptuous banquet is spread across the floor before the nobleman. At far right, a young girl delivers a letter, holding it out on a tray. Other guests can be seen in the rooms at left, with two beauties peering down from the upper story. A wonderful illustration with fantastic detail in the architectural setting.
