Comments - Interesting kabuki portrait of Bando Kamezo I as the monk Konkara. He appears in a circular inset, looking up with an unhappy expression, his brows furrowed. A string of prayer beads hangs from his ear, a practice thought to help curb temper, and he holds a pipe. A hexagonal inset above shows of view of Dotonbori in Osaka. Many boats are shown on the water, each with red paper lanterns, while the top of a building with signs and banners appears overhead. The background features a geometric pattern in shades of blue gray, with a text panel containing a verse. Nicely detailed with cloth embossing in the text panel.
