Prince Genji Paying a Visit

Comments - Beautiful triptych depicting Prince Genji paying a visit to a palace. He stands in the center wearing a blue brocade coat over his kimono, smiling as he looks down at the young woman at his side. She carries his sword upright, while another beauty at left holds out a lantern. Behind her, a matron appears at the top of the stairs, gripping the edge of a wooden support. The verandah behind them overlooks a beautiful garden with a lake surrounded by blossoming cherry trees beneath the night sky. A charming design with lovely color and detail in the elegant fabrics and palace setting.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14 3/8" x 29 3/4" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels, left and center panels backed with very thin paper. A few small holes, repaired, blends well. Slight soiling, very slight rubbing at bottom edge. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
