Original Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864) Japanese Woodblock Print
Geisha and Worried Man, 1859

Comments - Handsome kabuki double portrait of Iwai Kumesaburo III as the geisha Ohana and Kawarazaki Gonjuro I as Hanshichi. The beauty smiles as she looks down, playing with a metal hairpin while holding a roll of tissues with her other hand. His head bowed, her companion looks up with a sad frown as he pushes up the sleeve of his striped kimono, a blue towel draped over his shoulder. Beautifully detailed with delicate embossing in the butterfly print collar and the blue towel, and an embossed line along the side of Ohana's nose. Nice expressive figures.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14" x 9 7/8"

Condition - With excellent color and detail as shown. Backed with paper. Slight soiling, a few creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
