Series; The Sixty-nine Stations of the Kisokaido, 1852

Matsuida: Ichikawa Hirogoro - Handsome kabuki portrait of Ichikawa Hirogoro as a retainer of Lord Togashi in the kabuki play "The Subscription List." He wears an unusual yellow kimono patterned with spider webs over his armor, clutching a gourd container. He looks ahead with a rather confused expression, his thinning hair pulled back into a ponytail and a red sash neatly knotted around his forehead. The inset above shows a Taira encampment at Matsuida, with white tent walls emblazoned with the butterfly emblem of the clan hung inside a fenced enclosure. A colorful and interesting subject from this popular play.

Image Size - 13 3/4" x 9 5/8"

Condition - With excellent color and detail as shown. Backed with paper. Slight soiling, a few creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
