Street Knight in a Dragon Kimono

Comments - Terrific kabuki portrait of an otokodate or street knight leaning forward with an angry frown as he prepares to draw his sword. He wears a blue-violet outer robe patterned with white squares featuring crests in blue and green, one sleeve pushed down to reveal a striking kimono with a fierce dragon on it. The dramatic background features a red and white tie-dyed textile pattern above a branches silhouetted in dark gray against the evening sky. A great design, beautifully detailed.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 13 5/8" x 9 3/8" + margins as shown
