Elegant Genji Viewing Cherry Blossoms on a Misty, Moonlit Night, 1867

Comments - Handsome scene of Prince Genji viewing cherry blossoms at night in a beautiful garden alongside a river. He stands on a bridge in the center, looking up with his mouth slightly agape, a folding fan in hand. He wears a purple print coat and matching kimono, and chunky wooden sandals. At beauty kneels before him, holding a tall basket, while a young girl follows behind holding his sword. At right, two attendants carry a tobacco set and a picnic set. Pink and white flowers frame the evening sky, and lamps on wooden poles dot the grassy grounds. An attractive image with lovely color and detail, including embossing in the white kimono trim and burnishing in the black kimono at left.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 13 7/8" x 28 7/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels. A few small holes, slight thinning at a couple spots at edges, repaired, blends well. Slight creasing and soiling. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
