Original Meiji era Japanese Woodblock Print
Seven Lucky Gods Sugoroku Game Board, 1883

Comments - Intriguing game board print for sugoroku, a dice game similar to snakes and ladders that was popular with both adults and children. This print features scenes of Japan's famous Seven Lucky Gods, along with images of boys playing. Daikoku is shown standing atop bales of rice or resting atop his magic treasure bag, while Fukurokuju with his elongated forehead plays the shamisen. A charming subject with lively color.

Artist - Meiji era artist (unsigned)

Image Size - 13 3/8" x 8 7/8" + margins as shown

Condition - With excellent color and detail as shown. Thinning at top left corner, a few small holes, repaired, blends well. A few creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
