Series; Today's Elegant Customs and Manners

Watching a Dance Performance - Beautiful image of women watching a beauty perform a classic dance from the play known as "Dojoji." Two beauties kneel on cushions at left, watching from a balcony framed with purple drapery, with tea and refreshments on red lacquer trays nearby. The dancer wears an exquisite kimono and matching hat covered with cherry blossoms, sweeping her arms about gracefully beneath a temple bell and hanging blossoms. Two attendants sit quietly with their hands in their laps. A striking composition with lovely color and shading, including burnishing in the cushions and touches of metallic silver. A lovely design.

Artist - Miyagawa Shuntei (1873 - 1914)

Image Size - 14" x 27 1/2"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels, backed with paper. One small hole, repaired. Slight soiling. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
