Sailing off to Battle

Comments - Interesting scene of samurai gathered on the shore in preparation for sailing into battle. In the center, a general on a dappled horse stares back over his shoulder with a stern expression. His battle helmet is topped with antlers, and his personal standard or sashimono flies above his back. A warrior stands before him gripping a naginata and shading his eyes as he watches several ships sailing away from shore. An interesting subject, nicely detailed and colored.

Artist - Yoshitora (active circa 1840 - 1880)

Image Size - 14 1/2" x 9 5/8" + left margin as shown

Condition - With excellent color and detail as shown. Small stain near top edge, slight creasing and soiling. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
