View of the Thriving Cherry Blossoms at Aoyama in Asakusa, 1857

Comments - Lovely scene of beauties and children enjoying the cherry blossoms at Aoyama in Asakusa on a spring day. The woman in the center waves goodbye to a companion as walks along, lifting the hem of her robe. The beauty at left pauses with her hand resting against a tree trunk, a roll of tissues in her hand. The small girl beside her gestures excitedly, pointing towards the sky. At right, a girl holds an unusual half mask of a beauty's face with ornately styled hair. Two children run about and play in the background under the flowering trees, laughing and smiling. A large stone marker is encircled with a low bamboo fence at right, and a tall fence encloses the courtyard with buildings at the back. An attractive subject with fine shading in the pink and white blossoms.
