Takenouchi no Sukune

Series; Stories of a Hundred Heroes of High Renown, 1843 - 1844

Takenouchi no Sukune - Interesting portrait of the elderly statesman Takenouchi no Sukune sitting on a fur rug. He wears formal court robes and a ruffled Chinese collar, a yellow court cap tied under his thinly bearded chin. His war fan rests on a stand at right. According to legend, Takenouchi served five emperors, and lived to be 280 years old. He is now revered as a Shinto kami. Nicely detailed.

Condition - With excellent color and detail as shown. A few wormholes and holes, some repaired. Thinning and softening of print along right side and bottom edge. Toning, staining, and rubbing. Please see photos for details.
