Comments - Fantastic depiction of the warrior Hatakeyama Shigetada racing across the Uji River to attack Kiso Yoshinaka at the Second Battle of Uji in 1184. He urges his horse forward through the chest-deep water with a riding crop, a look of concentration on his face as he eyes the shore. He wears a beautiful robe patterned with a dragon and swirling clouds over his armor, and a battle helmet topped with rabbit ears. Lovely soft shading in the gently rippling water and sky, with touches of silver mica on the armor. A terrific samurai triptych.
