Courtesan in a Peacock Feather Kimono Kakemono

Comments - Lovely portrait of a courtesan wearing an unusual and elegant outer kimono trimmed with peacock feathers and edges with layers of brocade, including an embossed floral design. She looks over her shoulder with a smile, her open lips showing tiny, even white teeth. Her light yellow under robe features a delicate pattern of stylized birds in flight and scrolling vines, tied with a bold geometric print obi. A charming Edo era beauty design, beautifully composed to fit the kakemono or vertical diptych format.

Artist - Shunsen (1762 - circa 1830)

Image Size - 29 3/8" x 9 3/4"

Condition - With excellent detail as shown. Two separate panels. A few small holes, tiny loss at bottom left corner of bottom panel, repaired, blends well. Toning and creasing, slight soiling. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
