Sanmaibashi in Ueno

Comments - Charming scene of two beauties and a young man in front of one of the Sanmaibashi (Three Bridges Side by Side) in Ueno. The beauty in the center leans forward to whisper to her companion as they hold hands, shielding her mouth with her sleeve. The young man watches them attentively over his shoulder, raising a folding fan above his head. The woman at right wears a kimono bordered with cherry blossoms and flowing water, the long sleeves reaching almost to the ground. In the distance, the rooftop of Kan-ei-ji Temple can be seen among the pines and flowering cherry trees. A lovely Edo era design, nicely detailed with graceful line work and delicate embossed stripes in the center kimono.

Artist - Eishi (1756 - 1829)

Image Size - 14 5/8" x 9 1/2"

Condition - With excellent detail as shown. A few small holes, repaired, blends well. Slight creasing, slight soiling near edges. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
