Series; Legends of Loyalty and Chivalry

Takahira Bearing the Iyo Governor's Head at the Bay of Koshigoe - Dramatic scene of Nitta Kanja Takahira bearing the head of Minamoto no Yoshitsune, the Governor of Iyo, back to Fujiwara no Yasuhira for identification. After his defeat at the Battle of Koromo, Yoshitsune was forced by Yasuhira to commit suicide along with his wife and daughter. A driving rain slants across the dark sky as the messenger is engulfed in clouds of smoke, staring ahead with a determined frown. He wears a gruesome white vest patterned with severed heads over a black robe tucked into blue hakama pants, and a suit of armor, the wind whipping his robes about him. The broken wooden pilings and stormy night creates a dark atmosphere. A handsome design, beautifully composed and detailed.
