The Battle of Ichi-no-Tani - Terrific illustration of the Battle of Ichi-no-Tani between the Taira and Minamoto forces. In the foreground at right, Taira Tadanori grapples with Okabe Rokuyata Tadazumi, forcing him backwards over the trunk of a pine tree. At left, a warrior rushes forward along the beach to come to the aid of his fellow samurai. At right, the Minamoto general Kumagai Naozane watches on horseback as the young Taira samurai Atsumori gallops through water in a vain attempt to reach the Taira ship to escape. A lively image with a wonderfully detailed natural setting, nicely colored.

Artist - Kuniyoshi (1797 - 1861)

Image Size - 14" x 9" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail. A few small holes and losses repaired from reverse. A vertical crease at center. Some spots and soiling as shown. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
