Beauty Adjusting Her Obi

Comments - Attractive portrait of a beauty pausing during a stroll to adjust the back of her obi. She lifts the hem of her striped kimono with one hand, while reaching around her back with the other, smiling as she works. Her hair is pulled back into a sleek bun, adorned with a red lacquer comb and decorative hairpins. Rooftops are silhouetted in soft gray across the top above a row of foliage. The title cartouche at upper right features a tiny rooster with its wings outspread, bordered by a New Year's Day decoration of branches hung with small objects for good luck. A handsome design with fine bokashi shading.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14 1/2" x 9 3/4"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. A few wormholes and small holes, repaired, blends well. Very slight soiling and creasing. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
