Comments - Interesting scene of two matrons styling a beauty's hair in a spacious interior. The young woman sits in front of a black lacquer hand mirror on a stand, reaching for a pipe as an attendant combs through her long ponytail. The beauty wears an informal blue and white cotton kimono, pushed down to the waist, with a blue towel draped over her shoulders. Another woman kneels at left holding a wooden hair ornament, with boxes of hairpins on the floor nearby. The man at left watches with a grimace, gesturing with his hand. An intriguing subject with wonderful detail in the architectural setting and furnishings.
