Samurai on a Moonlit Night

Comments - Handsome kabuki scene of a samurai on a moonlit night, ready to start climbing a steep bank of stone stairs. He pauses with one foot on a step, looking to the side with a worried frown, his eyes wide, gripping each of his swords. He wears a tan cherry blossom print kamishimo over a blue floral kimono, the pants tucked up for easier movement. A crescent moon is faintly visible in the night sky, and a maple tree can be seen behind him on a grassy slope. An intriguing subject with an expressive figure.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 10" x 14 7/8"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail. A few small holes repaired. Some rubbing and soiling at edges. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
