Prince Genji on an Outing to Gather Mushrooms, 1847 - 1852

Comments - Attractive scene of Prince Genji and a group of beauties on an outing to gather mushrooms. He stands in the center smiling happily, wearing an impressive black coat patterned with dragons over a finely embossed white kimono shaded with yellow, an ornate pipe in his hand. At left, a kneeling woman shows off a large mushroom she has just picked to a girl carrying several threaded on a reed. At right, a matron carrying a basket exclaims as a beauty tugs on a mushroom among the pine needles on the ground. Pine trees frame a view of the countryside with mountains in the distance. A handsome design, nicely detailed with additional embossing in the white kimono trim.
