Samurai Holding a Man's Leg, 1853

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of a samurai kneeling next to a reclining man, holding his lower leg up. The samurai smiles as he looks back over his shoulder, wearing a floral coat and kimono, his thick hair tied into an upright ponytail. The reclining man grins as he rests his head on his hand, a pipe and tobacco pouch on the floor nearby. Through the window at left, a courtesan watches happily, a drawstring bag in her hand. An intriguing subject with handsome detail in the elegant interior setting.
