Crazed Woman, 1857

Comments - Intriguing kabuki scene of a rather crazed looking woman confronting a beauty and a young man. She leans forward with a grin at left, carrying some sort of bow and clutching the collar of her robe. The beauty in the center recoils in fright, flinging her arms wide to protect the youth behind her, who cowers behind his kimono sleeve. Tie-dyed blue curtains hang in the doorway of the room behind them, with sliding wood panels at right and blossoming cherry trees outside at left. An interesting subject with expressive figures and a nicely detailed setting.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 13 3/4" x 29 1/8"

Condition - With excellent color and detail as shown. Three panels, attached at the seams, backed with paper. Slight creasing and soiling. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
