Original Meiji era Japanese Woodblock Print
Royal Carriage

Comments - Interesting illustration of a royal carriage stopping along the road. The occupant is hidden by a reed blind, as a courtier kneels in front of the cart, where cloth draped steps are placed for the rider to climb out of the vehicle. Three archers kneel nearby, one keeping a sharp lookout over his shoulder. A crescent moon glows faintly beyond the distant hills. Nicely detailed with very fine line work and a dusting of mica.

Image Size - 7 3/8" x 5 7/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail. A vertical crease at center. A few small holes repaired from reverse. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
