Comments - Fantastic illustration of a balloon being inflated prior to ascension. In the center, a group of men tends a tethered balloon as it fills with gas from a large hose than runs along the ground to the right. Two groups on either side hold ropes attached to the balloon, while at lower left, two men drag the basket towards the balloon. A crowd has gathered in the background to watch, all the figures dressed in Western style clothing, in front of rows of neat stone buildings. An incredible historic subject, beautifully colored and detailed.
