Comments - Beautiful, painterly view of a red sun rising above the ocean, the surf below crashing over in a line of white foam. A few rocks poke above the undulating water, and pine trees in dark silhouette frame the scene at lower right. A soft ochre yellow glow spreads across the sky, obscuring the horizon. The Japanese government awarded him the "Order of Culture" in 1937, making him one of the first recipients of this important national honor. A handsome design in a large format, published by Unsodo, from an edition of 200 prints.
