Beauty Playing with Cat Kakemono, 1843 - 1847 - Lovely design of a young beauty playing with a cat, lifting the animal above her head with both hands. She playfully sticks out her tongue at the cat, a small treat on the tip of her tongue, the cat staring back at her steadily. She wears a striped kimono in muted shades of green, tied with an obi that reverses from a stripe to a pattern of small ducks and waves. A charming subject with faint embossed detail in the cat's fur. The Boston Museum of Fine Arts has this image in its collection. A great Edo era kakemono or vertical diptych by Toyokuni III.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 27 7/8" x 9 1/4"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Two panels, attached at the seam, partially backed with thin paper. A few wormholes, repaired, blends well. Creasing, slight soiling. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
