Courtesan in a Dragon Kimono Kakemono

Comments - Beautiful kakemono or vertical diptych of an elegantly dressed courtesan wearing a striking black kimono with a dragon above crashing waves. She looks over her shoulder with a dismayed expression, her mouth slightly agape, holding one sleeve to her chest as she clutches the edge of her robe. Her hair is styled with two large combs and many tortoiseshell hairpins, and she wears zori sandals, a red floral under robe peeking from beneath her kimono. A lovely Edo era beauty subject by Eisen.

Artist - Eisen (1790 - 1848)

Image Size - 28 3/8" x 9 1/2"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Two panels, attached at the seam, backed with paper. Wormholes, repaired, blends well. Slight soiling. Please see photos for details.
