Series; Pictures for the Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido Road

No. 2, Fujisawa, Totsuka, Hodogaya, and Kanagawa, 1856 - Handsome Hiroshige harimaze print featuring several separate designs illustrating stations on the Tokaido Road. Harimaze are woodblock prints featuring small scenes designed to be cut apart and pasted into albums or applied to screens. This print includes the stations of Fujisawa, Totsuka, Hodogaya, and Kanagawa. A wonderful assortment of images, including a classic Hiroshige landscape with Mt. Fuji in the distance, a smiling beauty, a water beneath the pilings of a bridge, and a scene from the legend of Urashima Taro opening the box containing his old age. Nicely detailed and colored.
