It is a fine set and is an extremely rare find. Complete sets are almost never offered on the market. They are rarely sold and usually held undisclosed and unoffered. Yoshitoshi's Thirty-Six Ghosts - In this incredible series, Yoshitoshi illustrated thirty-six of his favorite tales from Japanese history and legend. From charming folk stories to bloody tales of revenge, the series is the work of the artist's maturity and Yoshitoshi explores the subjects with great subtlety and psychological perception. As interesting to Yoshitoshi as the ghosts and monsters, are the human beings to whom they appear. Yoshitoshi was immensely popular in the last years of his life and the ghost series was greeted with great enthusiasm and a rush to collect among the Japanese public.
Today, prints from Yoshitoshi's Thirty-six Ghosts series are some of the most highly sought after prints on the market. A wonderful area of collecting for the Yoshitoshi enthusiast.

Condition - Prints: This item with excellent color, beautifully printed with sharp detail. Folio stored and retaining full color. Some light toning or minor soiling at edges – very little and typical. This set is well above average for Yoshitoshi’s ghost prints. Some offsetting on a few subjects from folio storage. Backed with old paper as part of the folio organization. Attached end to end, accordion style, at edges only - could be easily separated into loose prints. Please see examples in gallery linked below for a sense of condition. Book: Some light toning and wear at edges and corners of cover. Good overall.
