The Seven Gods of Good Fortune in the Treasure Boat Pillar Print

Comments - Wonderful pillar print of the Seven Lucky Gods riding in their treasure boat, which features a fantastic prow in the form of a dragon. At top, Bishamonten grips a pole arm and holds a model of a stupa (a Buddhist memorial tower). Below him, the only female member of the group, Benzaiten, plays a biwa or Japanese lute. A crane flies overhead with a view of Mt. Fuji in the distance, and a turtle surfaces above the undulating waves below. A charming image of these famous deities, also in the collection of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.

Artist - Shigemasa (1739 - 1820)

Image Size - 26 1/4" x 4 1/2"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. A few small holes, repaired, blends well. Creasing from previous rolled storage. Toning, soiling. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
