Five Street Knights under a Cherry Tree

Comments - Handsome kabuki triptych depicting five otokodate or street knights standing beneath a blossoming cherry tree. The fellow in the center frowns unhappily, wearing a striking black kimono patterned with a dragon, red flames, and swirling gusts of wind. The young man at right scowls back at him, his robe depicting a snake, a lute, and chrysanthemum blossoms. Each of the men carries an umbrella and is armed with a single sword. A great image with beautiful color and wonderful detail in the striking kimono patterns, which include burnishing in the black backgrounds.
