Original Kuniteru II (1829 - 1874) Japanese Woodblock Print
View of Nihonbashi Bridge

Comments - Terrific view of the bustling Nihonbashi Bridge in Tokyo. The roadway is crowded with pedestrians, horse-drawn carriages, and rickshaws. At bottom center, men gather beside a notice board, while at far right, two policemen in uniforms stroll past a fenced building. Teahouses line the opposite shore of the Sumida River, with a few large white warehouses next to another bridge at right. Telegraph lines run across the scene, a sign of the rapid modernization taking place during the Meiji era. An interesting subject, nicely detailed.

Artist - Kuniteru II (1829 - 1874)

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 27 3/8" + margins as shown

Condition - With excellent color and detail as shown. Three panels, not attached at the seams. A few small holes, repaired, blends well. Slight soiling, slight rubbing near edges. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
